Moving Forward

Tackled two bugs today not related to the web site itself and more related to some logistical configuration/growing pains with the new server. First we ran into an issue where Firefox 3.5.2 would not render the web page correctly. The main navigation bar was all sorts of screwed up. This turned out to be due to a disk space allocation issue. This issue has been fixed and testing shows clean rendering of all pages since then.

We also ran into an issue where outside viewers could not email any address ending in @digitalflood.com. This was due to some improper routing with our DNS. We have addressed that issue as well and testing again shows email delivery is restored.

We had a large numbers of hits to the site since announcing our upgrade on Facebook and MySpace. I’m glad to see there was some interest in the site. Early feedback seems very positive. As always, let me know what you think and I’ll keep plugging away on this end to push things forward based on that info.

Picture Perfect

I’ve added a Photos section to the site that includes some candid shots, past events, and good old fashion family photos. It was rather interesting digging through these and it brought back a lot memories. It reminds me of my first post on this new version of the site a few weeks back, where I talked about the long strange journey I’ve had. Here we are, new site and a new year. No matter how much the deal is the same– Pirate Radio and shenanigans; there is still many other things different. That’s life I guess. I hope you enjoy looking through these pictures as much as I did. Expect new Pirate Radio this Sunday night to posted (10/12/08). Post production is done and it’s all ready to go. It’s time to do what we do best– the Pirate Radio begins anew!

Back Where It Began

Three hard days (and some 15 hours of coding later) daylight is starting to show on the new site. I’ve finished up the Albums section restoring all the content as it was prior to take down. The Art section is fully updated and ready to go. Contact Us is working as planned. I’ve also put up some Links and gotten the Site Search up. The latter Search is still indexing though and could take up to 48 hours to go live (I’ll update you when it seems to be functioning properly). Finally, the forwarding is in place for the initial site load to land here. I’m personally feeling very accomplished and very happy with the end results. Next up, I have to tackle restoring Pirate Radio, which will be a daunting task. The new Radio section should be pretty full featured and end up being more than a one page landing zone as it has been in the past. I think you’ll be happy with the end results.

The Long Road Back

We’re out of Alpha on the web site and into public Beta, which is a good thing. Mostly because now the majority of you can see the site. The longest delay point in the project has been working on some blogging features that are taking way too long in development. I’m shifting forward though on the main site and focusing on restoring the previous areas. If you see something broken feel free to drop me a line and I’ll tackle it from there, but at this point about 60% of the site is running the way it should be. The next major phase is rebuilding the Albums section and shortly there after restoring Pirate Radio to its webcasting availability. Expect an update when we hit that milestone.

Classic DF – 12/11/03

December 11, 2003: [•] I can tell you four things right now: 1.) I’m re-launching this site. 2.) It’s going to be special. Like short bus special. 3.) New music will follow shortly, but that’s something else. 4.) I can count no higher than the number 4. With that, I end this post… BAM!
