[•] Security concerns have closed the US embassies in Paraguay, Uruguay, and Ecuador. [•] Indonesian separatists have bombed an Exxon Mobil natural gas field. [•] Vietnam’s school are under attack by chemical weapons, but no one why knows why. [•] 33 police officers were killed by Maoist rebels in Nepal. [•] This evening the Jewish holiday of Passover begins. For most Jews it is a joyous holiday, but not so in worn torn Israel. [•] Iraq claims that US and UK jets once again bombed them. [•] Meanwhile, Amnesty International has charged Iraq with massive human rights violations. [•] Algerian national Ahmed Ressam has been found guilty of plotting to bomb New Year’s Eve celebrations. [•] President Bush’s tax cut proposal has passed Senate (sort of). [•] About 100 college students have caught a respiratory infection from going to Spring Break in Mexico. [•] Roosevelt Junior and Senior High School has been closed as teachers and administrators try to figure out how to regain control over students. [•] A child escapes a kidnapper in New York City. [•] A man attacks the Liberty Bell with a ball peen hammer. [•] Four Spidey costumes were stolen from the set of Spider-man: The Movie. [•] The FCC has almost explained exactly what indecent or patently offensive programming is. “Almost” being the operative word. [•] Get your own brothel! [•] A shop lifter dies fighting security guards. Is it really worth a couple of chocolate bunnies and a box of Cheez-Its to die? I think not. [•] Beware of tumbleweeds. [•] A convicted rapist, Joji Obara, has been charged with killing a US woman in Japan. [•] A self-admitted murderer, Guy Georges, has been sentenced to life in prison. [•] A mine explosion killed seven people in Iraq. [•] The return of Linda Tripp. [•] Hey, Anthony Spero has been convicted over here. [•] President Bush doesn’t use e-mail. Smart man. [•] The USDA will continue to have schools test for salmonella. [•] Electrical failures have taken out AIM again. [•] China isn’t protecting its pandas. [•] Last year 155 government computers were hacked. [•] A composite material made of copper and fiberglass has been created and it has a negative index of refraction. [•] Stone Temple Pilots is done recording their next album. [•] Godsmack and the Deftones will tour this summer. [•] Megadeth has filmed the video for Moto Psycho. [•] Area: One has added Outkast and New Order to their line up. [•] Chevy is recalling 2002 Chevy Trailblazers, GMC Envoys, and Oldsmobile Bravadas due to steering failures. [•] Oh those Europeans and their crazy supercars! [•] A 489MPH Porsche. Of course that’s by scale since it’s an R/C car, but any how. [•] Mac offered a firmware upgrade to G3/G4 users and as a result many of their SIMMs are no longer recognized as valid due to a software glitch. [•] My wife and I hung out with Immy and Sylance yesterday. We went to mall and in generally had a really fun time. Shopping rules. [•] Bored? Forget Napster! Who needs MP3s anyhow? We have cassette tapes! Yeah, you heard me right. Everyone knows analog rules. So there 😛 [•] On a sad note: E-front USA has declared bankruptcy and taken SomethingAwful.com with it. Lowtax is looking for a new server, but it looks like we won’t have a Cliffy Y. fix for awhile. My week has been ruined!

Aug 4, 2000: [•] Last night George Bush slammed Al Gore and rallied the GOP to a frenzy. It was pretty cool. [•] Queen Mother Elizabeth turns 100 years old today. [•] Miloslevic is at it again. This time he is saying that 2 Britons and 2 Canadians are terrorists because they were carrying tools to make bombs. The truth is they train bomb squads (well, duh of course they have bomb making equipment). Montenegro believes Miloslevic is trying to take control by making a crisis. [•] Sears is pulling Firestone ATX, ATX II and Wilderness tires from its shelves due to safety concerns that we reported earlier last month. [•] California has been hit by a power crisis. [•] The good news is that more beaches are closing down before people get sick, but the bad news is the number of infected beaches is rising. [•] Brazil is being ravaged by mudslides and floods. [•] Luisa Farinon Caltagirone and her body guard were held hostage for a little bit by their servant Leo Bagasson in Italy before he escaped. [•] Ex-President Ford is doing better after suffering 2 small strokes, but a swollen tongue continues to plague him. [•] A man is trying to gain custody rights of his unborn child citing that the woman carrying the baby would be an unfit mother. [•] West Nile Virus continues to spread across New York and New Jersey. It’s amazing how fast one little bug can spread a disease isn’t it? [•] The US Navy has removed the latest group of protesters off of Vieques Island and resumed their war games. [•] You can now buy and sell real estate over E-bay. [•] A judge has ordered the FBI to disclose how Carnivore works. [•] A new breed of pirate is growing on the Net. They are low down and dirty. They are elderly and stealing needlepoint patterns.
